As part of a large-scale renovation project in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a city design code will be developed to determine the new look of the island capital. The project will be led by RTDA, the regional center renovation operator. To work on the draft design code, it is planned to involve the Ostozhenka architecture firm and the studio of Artemy Lebedev.

As part of the design code project, a concept of a single city style will be developed, starting with the logo, requirements for the design of signboards and signs and ending with principles of landscaping and rules for designing facades. Each stage of the design code development will be discussed with city residents, representatives of public organizations and entrepreneurs. Through the single design code Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk will get a new modern look of a resort city and become more attractive for tourists.
